Salvador da Bahia ist ein Schmelztiegel der Kulturen, da man hierher einst schwarze Sklaven aus Afrika geholt hatte.
Man sagt Salvador nach, daß es für jeden Tag des Jahres eine Kirche hat. In Wirklichkeit sind es zwar nicht ganz so viele; dennoch kann man im oberen Stadtteil kaum irgendwohin sehen, ohne daß der Blick auf irgendeine Kirche fällt.

Salvador da Bahia is a mixture of cultures, because once slaves from Africa had been brought here.
It is said that Salvador has one church for each day of the year. In reality it's not quite as much, but anyway you nearly can't look anywhere in the upper part of the city without seeing a church.
